What is Qigong?

You will get a basic understanding about Qigong and the difference between it and Tai Chi.

Wouldn't you like to work with a healing method that will improve your health and lifestyle and that has been proven over thousands of years in China?

If the answer is yes, then you'll want to read further to learn how to utilize qigong to keep you healthy and well. I speak from the experience of my partner having several operations that were supposed to cure some physical problems but only made them worse plus the inconvenience afterward.

After he reflected on and researched about what effects the Western medical profession's and pharmaceutical company's approach had on his body and how he could avoid that in the future, that's when he told me that he was going to renounce his Western ways and switch over to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and the practice of Qigong.

I'm not keen on taking medications where the side effects are worse than the ailments and that the long term interactions and effects of taking several types of medicines at one time are unknown. In retrospect, I think instead of dealing with a medical profession that is only a couple of hundreds of years old that I prefer to work with one that has been healing people for several thousand years.

Now, let me interject here that each of the methods has its pros and cons.  Simply put, let me say that after much research, I feel that Western medicine is better suited for trauma type cases and repairing bodies while those conditions affecting the body with a chronic sickness, ailments, and other similar maladies are best treated with TCM and Qigong.

In oriental medicine, it is said that disease is the physiological expression of a disharmony of the energy system of the body. Qigong exercises, fasting, diet, meditation, acupuncture, and herbal formulas, among other methods, are administered to rehabilitate the individual back to a state of balance and health.

"A big difference between our two practices," said one TCM doctor, "is that Western medicine treats people as individual organs. Eastern medicine treats people as a whole." Health is not just about disease, but also about wellness. The concept that I am propounding here consists of the proposition that we embrace a unique melding of modern medicine and ancient wisdom in order to heal ourselves.

Qigong exercises, such as the one taught in this lesson, are essential to keeping your body in shape but mainly they promote the stimulation of your internal organs and open up the channels through which your Qi energy moves. Learning Qigong is a step in the right direction not only to fitness and wellness but a better quality of life.
